More help and hope for Haiti

I have just returned from a brief humanitarian trip to Haiti at the request of our local partners in the relief effort. Words cannot adequately convey the horrors I encountered. The zest for life that characterizes the people of Haiti has been replaced with despair. Faces of the local children and the elderly are filled with sadness, loneliness, hunger and fear. The tragedy is simply too much for anyone to bear alone and it is imperative that we do all that we can to help the Haitians rebuild their lives.

MDC has made giving easy for you. Monetary donations may be dropped off at your campus Student Life or Bursar's office. You will receive a receipt for your contributions and may claim your donation on your 2009 tax return. Even if you have already donated to the College's relief efforts, please consider giving more. The images of suffering may be fading from the media, but the pain is still real.

The College has a history of coming together and rising to the occasion when misfortune strikes, and that is what makes us so unique. Times are tight, but our Haitian brothers and sisters need our help. The magnitude of this misfortune has reached epic proportions and we must band together to help the people of Haiti reestablish hope and restore their community.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity.

Eduardo
