Miami Dade College to Host Symposium on Promoting Leadership in Latino Communities

Miami, August 16, 2010 - Miami Dade College (MDC) is among three local institutions selected to host the National Community College Hispanic Council’s (NCCHC) 15th Annual Leadership Symposium, which will take place Sept. 23 – 25 at the Hyatt Regency in Miami. It has been more than a decade since the Symposium was held in Florida.

The three-day event, titled “Celebrating a Quarter Century of Meeting the Challenge,” will include an opening reception, awards banquet, conferences, special sessions, exhibits, networking opportunities, resource materials, and interactive activities to support and enhance student success.

Confirmed speakers include U.S. Under Secretary for Education Dr. Martha Kanter and Dr. Juan Sepulveda, director of the White House Initiative on Education Excellence for Hispanic Americans, among other educational leaders.

The NCCHC is an affiliate of the Council of the American Association of Community Colleges. Its mission is to increase the number of successful Hispanic leaders in America’s community colleges through leadership development.
