MDC West at Doral to Host Art Exhibition during Social Fridays in Doral

Miami, August 26, 2010 - As part of the new Social Fridays in Doral project, Miami Dade College (MDC) Westwill host an art exhibition titled Perception on Friday, Sept. 3, from 8 to 11 p.m. Social Fridays in Doral takes place weekly and includes trolley tours that stop at area hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues. MDC West is the trolley’s first destination.

The exhibition will feature works by several Miami-based artists, including Wilfredo Barceló, Marcela Collazos, Amalio Carneiro, and Gretchen Scharnagl.

“Perception is part of an art exhibition promoting interest and understanding of emerging visual art,” said Dr. José A. Vicente, President of the North Campus and West.  “This exhibition is a joint effort of MDC West and the Doral Art and Culture Chamber of Commerce as part of the City of Doral Social Fridays, which emphasizes personal growth, cultural enrichment, and economic advancement through the arts for all students and the community at large.”

West gallery brings the Doral community the opportunity to view diverse artwork. Spanning a wide range of visual media and cultural influences, Perception brings a unique balance of artistic concepts and expressions that also serves as an education tool.   

As always, admission to MDC galleries is free and open to the public. Doral trolley service is free.
