Miami Dade College’s Jazz at Wolfson Presents Vocalist Kate Reid on March 17

Miami, March 2, 2010 - Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Arts and Philosophy Department at Wolfson Campus continues its successful series of afternoon jazz concerts, Jazz at Wolfson Presents, with a performance by jazz vocalist and pianist Kate Reid on Wednesday, Mar. 17.
Reid is highly respected among her peers and has shared the stage with numerous jazz greats, including Mark Murphy, Jon Hendricks, Joe Williams, Maynard Ferguson, Rosemary Clooney, Della Reese, the Manhattan Transfer, Lionel Hampton, Bobby McFerrin, Kevin Mahogany, Liza Minnelli, and Tito Puente.
She was a backing vocalist for Jon Secada on his album Amor and was selected as back-up vocalist for the recorded and nationally-televised Summit of the Americas broadcast produced by Quincy Jones in 1996. In 1998, Reid was a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk Jazz Vocal Competition.
Reid is a faculty member at Cypress College, where she directs the jazz program. In addition, she serves as guest artist and clinician throughout the United States and Canada.
The MDC Jazz at Wolfson Presents features live performances monthly through April.
