MDC/NSF Program Accepting Applications for STEM Scholarships
Miami, August 12, 2009 - Miami Dade College (MDC) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) have joined forces to offer Windows of Opportunity scholarships worth up to $4,600 per academic year for students with STEM majors – science, technology, engineering, and math. The deadline to submit an application packet is Friday, Sept. 4.
MDC began extending this unique opportunity three years ago. Recipients are selected based on their academic performance, full-time status, academic major, and financial aid eligibility. The application packet must include: an application; a one-page essay describing the student’s interest in science and career goals; an MDC schedule showing full-time enrollment; a degree audit (for current MDC students), a high school transcript (for first-semester students), or a college transcript (for transfer students); proof of financial aid eligibility; and a letter of recommendation from a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics instructor.
