Leadership Opportunities
Leadership Lab (LLAB)
Our mission at Detachment 155 is to develop quality leaders for the Air Force. Our ROTC program is fully cadet/student run, allowing members the opportunity to "test drive" the program for up to two years without any military obligation. Cadets build on their leadership skills by participating in a weekly three hour training session known as Leadership Lab (LLAB), the foundation of Air Force ROTC training. During LLAB cadets are trained on leadership skills they will directly apply at field training, "officer boot camp," between their sophomore and junior year. Junior and senior cadets who have already completed field training are inducted as cadet officers and are responsible for directly planning and/or executing LLAB.
Our detachment has a long standing tradition of excellence and as Cadet Wing Commander I am responsible for ensuring our training remains outstanding. As I approach my final semester in Air Force ROTC, I look back and see just how much I have grown as a leader. My past and current experiences are preparing me to lead some of the brightest men and women in the world. I highly recommend this program to all those looking for a challenging and exciting career and I look forward to seeing all the new faces next year!

LLAB is a cadet organized lab taken each semester with your AFROTC classes. You will spend two hours each week using the leadership skills and management theory acquired in class. You also have the opportunity to take orientation flights, listen to military speakers, visit Air Force bases, view films and take part in social functions.
Operation Air Force
During the summer after your junior year, you may volunteer to participate in this program. Operation Air Force (OAF) is designed to provide career orientation and leadership opportunities. You will have the opportunity to observe and work in a career field of your choice on an active Air Force base for two to three weeks to learn the challenges of being a junior officer. Transportation is provided to and from all training. You will receive pay and travel allowance while participating in this program. Applications are accepted the fall of your junior year. There is also an OAF overseas, where cadets can observe Air Force operations in various bases around the world, and a ten-day orientation program after your freshman year called ASSIST.
Earn Respect
AFROTC cadets are looked upon with respect as persons who have elected to serve in an honorable profession. Detachment 155 graduates have served honorably and with distinction. We are truly considered part of the college community. We assign cadet "mentors" to new students. They can help students find classes, get textbooks, learn to wear the uniform correctly, meet other cadets, and learn basic customs and courtesies. It is the cadet's flight commander's responsibility to help new cadets fit into the program. We also have tutoring programs and other forms of assistance available. Hazing is not permitted! The focus at the unit is on teaching as well as discipline. The unit staff is concerned about cadets' well being and progress and will treat every cadet as adult officer candidates.
