Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to get started?

Please bring your Florida ID or Driver’s License and Original Social Security card to the Adult Education ESOL office in Building 8, Room 8201. Here you will complete paperwork and be registered to take the entrance test to determine your level of English.

After completing the paperwork you should take the test registration form to Building 3, room 3135 to receive the schedule to take the test. Please bring this schedule with you on your scheduled test day.

NOTE: There are a limited number of seats for the tests. These tests fill early and you may not be able to get a test scheduled at this campus for the term you wish to enter. It is suggested that you come to apply early in the current term for next term.

How do I know what level of English I will take?

First you must take the CASAS entrance test which will determine your level of English. Remember that on that day you must bring your test registration paper (acquired from Building 3), and two valid government IDs (one with picture). It is important that you report 15 minutes early on your scheduled day to the assigned testing room (shown on the paper given to you by 8201 staff).

You will be told your English level on the day of registration.

How do I get scheduled for a class?

Registration for classes is on a first come, first served basis. Please arrive early (no earlier than 7 a.m.) on the day of registration (information on papers provided in 8201). You will again need your Florida ID/driver’s license.  As long as there is an available class for your level, you will be registered and receive a schedule.
